About the client

Massey University is one of New Zealand’s largest education providers, with campuses in Manawatū, Wellington, and Auckland’s North Shore. Providing world-class education to national and international students.

Massey University also has a commercial division, where they use their buildings, products and resources to host and create events internally, directly to consumers and businesses. Which, with the help of Stitch Media, is now known as Massey Venues.

The Pain Points

Massey Universities’ commercial arm was formally known and branded as Hospitality Servies. Sitting alongside this brand were multiple other sub and standalone brands that were all looking to achieve the same objective.

Resource Allocation

Resources were spread thin across three campuses, being invested into various brands and platforms.

Disjointed Marketing Plan

The marketing plan was disjointed, leading to confusion in the market.

Brand Dilution

The presence of multiple brands was cheapening the credible Massey University brand.

Lack of Sustainable Results

The current strategy was not producing sustainable results.

The Main Objective

“Transform Massey Universities’ commercial division by re-positioning and re-branding their existing brand, then establish and execute a full-service digital marketing strategy.”

Repositioning & Branding

Working with the internal team, we identified the current reality of Hospitality Services and other brands sitting under it, then went about how we would reposition the service offering.

Once this was established, we went about re-branding Hospitality Services into what is now called Massey Venues.

Strategy Development

Working holistically at the top level, we developed a strategy of setting out sub-objectives and plans that would ultimately lead to Stitch Media achieving the main objective.

Stitch Media worked alongside the individual managers across all three campuses to ensure each one of their needs and sub-brands they looked after were met.

We finished the strategy through a series of meetings and started putting it into action.

Content Creation

The existing content that was provided was outdated, not up to a high standard, or misaligned with the marketing objective we had set and intended to do. We set out around the country to capture and create content that would serve us for the year ahead.
This included imagery, that would be used across the website, social media, and any physical collateral Massey Venues may need in the future.

As well as a core brand video, short-form videos for reels and multiple walk-through videos that showed off the buildings and product offerings. Stitch Media worked alongside the individual managers across all three campuses to ensure each one of their needs and sub-brands they looked after we were met.

Website Design & Development

Digital Execution

We developed a nationwide marketing strategy targeting both B2C and B2B across multiple platforms, taking into account the sub-objectives from each location working with them daily.

We took into consideration the need to both attract leads to host events but also the need for brand awareness, engagement and the need for foot traffic to some on-campus locations.

Through a multi-channel, multi-platform strategy, we implemented our marketing plan nationwide.

Ongoing Growth & Expansion

We have built Massey Venues from the ground up. As we continue to work through and implement our strategy, we are continuing to see an increase in leads, stronger community and growth of online platforms for every brand that sits within Massey Venues.

As Massey Venues sits under Massey University, Stitch Media continues to take on new challenges and objectives to increase the digital presence of new and exciting brands, products and services.
